Hay folks Tim here with your Thursday update, the new year is here! Lots of things occurred in 2025 a Munchkins charity shop opened, our barn was granted planning permission and mostly built, we lost many friends and rehomed several more. More rescues were admitted to the herd and assisted back to health. A very busy year all told! Our herd numbers have climbed back up again to nearly 60.
There are many good wishes to everyone from the herd for the start of the year. The Chinese New Year of the Horse officially starts on 17th of February but it is the year of the fire horse, so our chestnuts are already saying that it is their year! ( and you don’t argue with our chestnut mares!) We all hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2026.
There is a thought out there that we ought to produce a booklet called ‘101 uses for baler twine’ the herd members are all sure there are far more than 101 uses but maybe we could do a sequel if this proves to be the case?! All you horse people out there have no doubt found many uses for the pink/ yellow/ blue/ orange string over the years? What do you think?
Mummy Munchkin has done a new year evaluation on the page of all the things that are required. Mummy Munchkin survived her first full morning back after catching the vicious winter lurgy, but was very glad to see other volunteers that had come up to help out.
Have you all started using your Munchkins calendars? We do have a few left if you missed out or want another one, the details are on the post on the page.
Well that is about it for today’s news, it wasn’t too noisy last night but I think there were a few sore heads this morning ! I shall return tomorrow with more TTFN,
Tim, Munchkins Head Reporter.
